Comoros Ship Registration

Comoros accepts following ship types:

  • Normal Registration
  • Bareboat charter registration (Dual Registration)
  • Special registration for delivery
  • Special registration for scrap
  • Yacht registration
  • Mortgage registration

 

Comoros does not accept fishing vessels

Registration requirements

  • Application Form duly filled-in, signed & stamped
  • Copy of Bill of Sale, duly notarized
  • Copy of Deletion Certificate or Non-Encumbrance Certificate from vessel’s existing Flag
  • Copy of updated Good Standing Certificate of the Owning Company
  • Copy of Confirmation Letter from the vessel’s Classification Society
  • Copy of Confirmation Letter from Radio Traffic Accounting Authority (all accounting authorities included in the corresponding list of the ITU are authorized by Comoros)
  • Copies of vessel’s existing Certificates of Registry (Certificate of Registry, Ship Station License, Minimum Safe Manning)
  • Copy of vessel’s existing International Tonnage Certificate (ITC’69)
  • Application for Continuous Synopsis Record
  • Copy of Declaration of Company Security Officer
  • Copy of Safe Management Agreement
  • Copy of existing Continuous Synopsis Record

 

Additional requirements for bare boat charter in registration:

  • Letter of Consent for the BB In Registration of the vessel under the Comorian Flag issued by the Main Flag
  • Copy of Notarized Bareboat Charter Agreement

 

Additional requirements for bare boat charter out registration:
  • Letter from intended secondary Flag confirming that dual registration of the vessel is allowed
  • Copy of Notarized Bareboat Charter Agreement

 

Additional requirements for mortgage registration:

  • Three original Notarized Mortgage Deeds signed by both parties
  • Affidavit of Good Faith Notarized
  • Legalized Minutes of the meeting of the Mortgagor and Mortgagee
  • Power of Attorney (POA) of the Mortgagor and Mortgagee Notarized

 

Additional requirements for special registration for scrap:

  • Copy of Deletion Certificate or Non-Encumbrance Certificate from vessel’s existing Flag

 

Once  the above mentioned documents are submitted along with payment slip, provisional registration certificates are issued valid for six months, the following certificates are issued for the first time by the flag:
  • Certificate of registration (Navigation Licenses)
  • Ship station license
  • Minimum safe manning certificate
  • Deceleration of Maritime Labour convention PART I

Once class and statutory certificates are issued by an approved recognized organization, same has to be submit to the flag along with Continuous Synopsis Record to proceed for issuance of the Continuous Synopsis Record

During the provisional registration period, the owner or the vessel representative has to submit Requirements for Permanent Registration
 
  • Original Application Form duly filled-in, signed & stamped
  • Original Bill of Sale, duly notarized
  • Original Deletion Certificate from previous Flag
  • Original Ship’s Carving and Marking Note duly filled in and stamped by the attending Classification Surveyor
  • Original Radio Installation Survey Report duly filled in and stamped by the attending Classification Surveyor
  • Copies of valid Class and Statutory certificates issued

Permanent registration is issued valid for 5 years, during which flag annual taxes (specified amount to be paid not real taxes) to the flag not later than 31 December of every calendar year, except first year where the paid registration cost includes whole year annual taxes
